Overview
Founded in 2016 as the fifth club in the Dutch Lions Capital Group network. Despite the “New York” name, the club primarily operates out of Hoboken, New Jersey (Sinatra Park Soccer Field). Operates a training academy with camps/clinics and a women’s semi-professional team.
Notable for hosting exhibition games featuring former Dutch National Team players, including coaches like Wim Rijsbergen (former World Cup finalist, Ajax/Feyenoord player) in 2017 and Gerard van der Lem (four-time Dutch Championship winner with Ajax) in 2018.

Competitive Position
The NYC/NJ metro is one of the most competitive youth soccer markets in the country. Dutch Lions is a very minor player here, operating camps and clinics rather than a full competitive youth program. Major competitors include Cedar Stars Academy, FC Copa Academy, and dozens of established ECNL/MLS NEXT clubs.
Investment Thesis
Minimal. The club operates primarily as a camp/clinic brand in the NYC metro rather than a competitive youth soccer organization.
Open Questions
- Scale of camp/clinic operations (player throughput, revenue)?
- Does the training academy have year-round programs or seasonal only?
