Declan Jogi

Academy Director, Sporting Kansas City (promoted August 2022). Third Academy Director in Sporting KC history. Reports to Manager and Sporting Director Peter Vermes.

Background

Originally from Zimbabwe, Jogi played college soccer at King University (Tennessee) and is a member of its athletic hall of fame. He had a professional playing career with the Charlotte Eagles (USL) and in the Zimbabwe Premier League (Acadia United, Dynamos FC). Joined Sporting KC Academy staff in 2015, coaching the U-13s (2015–2017) and U-14s (2017–2022), winning the 2019 LA Galaxy Cup and 2021 US Youth Futsal National Championships. Holds USSF A License and Elite Formation Coaching License (French Football Federation).

Context

Jogi’s promotion reflects an internal pipeline of coaching talent at Sporting KC, one of MLS’s most developed academy programs. The academy competes in MLS NEXT and has strong ties to the club’s pro player pathway.
