Memorial Day Classico (Boise Timbers | Thorns)
Overview
The BTT Memorial Day Classico is a multi-day youth soccer tournament hosted by Boise Timbers | Thorns (BTT) in the Meridian, Idaho area over Memorial Day weekend. The 2026 edition runs May 22–25. The tournament draws competitive travel teams from across Idaho, the Pacific Northwest, and intermountain states, making it one of the largest spring youth soccer events in the region. A 2026 highlight is a USL League One home match for Athletic Club Boise — Boise’s new professional men’s team in its inaugural season — scheduled on Saturday, May 23 during the tournament weekend, adding a pro soccer dimension to the family experience.
Ownership & Operations
Hosted by Boise Timbers | Thorns Soccer Club Inc., the dominant youth soccer organization in the Treasure Valley (Boise metro area). BTT operates multiple tournaments annually including the Classico and the Fall Classic. The 2026 tournament uses online credential check-in for all participating teams. Travel accommodations are managed through Traveling Teams, the designated exclusive hotel partner with a stay-to-play requirement for non-local clubs.
Economics
Multi-day format with stay-to-play requirement. Entry fees in the $700–$1,000 per-team range consistent with regional multi-day events. Hotel room-block revenue flows through Traveling Teams. The tournament is among BTT’s primary revenue-generating events and a significant economic driver for the Meridian hospitality market.
Sanctioning
US Club Soccer sanctioned per the US Club Soccer sanctioned tournament list (2026).
Reputation & Tier
Regional Tier 2–3; one of the premier youth soccer tournaments in the Mountain West. The BTT Memorial Day Classico has a long-running history and strong multi-state draw, positioning it well above typical local club events in the Idaho / Pacific Northwest corridor.
Notes
BTT is the largest youth soccer club in Idaho. The 2026 event’s tie-in with Athletic Club Boise’s USL League One inaugural season is a novel promotional angle for a youth tournament and reflects BTT’s position at the center of Idaho’s broader soccer ecosystem.
