Twin Cities Soccer Leagues (TCSL)
Overview
The primary competitive league structure for youth soccer in the Twin Cities metro area. Represents 44 clubs, 30,000+ players, 3,000+ coaches, and 2,000+ teams. (MEDIUM)
Structure
For 2025-26, TCSL operates a tiered pathway:
- ECNL-RL Twin Cities (top tier, performance-based promotion from NPL Super) — new for 2025-26 via ECNL partnership
- Minnesota NPL Premier (mid tier, winners advance to NPL Finals)
- TCSL Regional / State / Cities (lower tiers)
The ECNL partnership (announced February 2025) replaced the old NPL Super division with ECNL-RL Twin Cities, giving ~31 Twin Cities clubs a performance-based pathway up to national ECNL through MN Thunder Academy.
Club Requirements
Clubs must be registered with MYSA or a national association (US Club Soccer). Teams qualify for ECNL-RL and NPL tiers based on competitive performance.
Current Trajectory
Growing and consolidating. The ECNL partnership is a significant structural upgrade that elevates the entire Twin Cities competitive ecosystem. TCSL is becoming the organizing body for Minnesota’s competitive youth soccer pathway.
